Woolarina loves to handpaint yarn and fiber! This involves a *lot* of dye! We do try to take pains to set the dyes properly - if it looks like a yarn is leaking crazy amounts of dye in the rinse process, we toss it back into the dyepot to set it better - but sometimes extra color can escape our grasp! If this is the case, and your knit item seems to leak a bit much, just throw it into a pot with some almost boiling water (no bubbles or it might felt) and some vinegar to set the acid dyes.

For some of our more fragile rovings, like merino, we try to handle the rovings as little as possible (who wants to spin a felted roving?!). We try to get the dyes set as much as possible, and generally, the color should remain in the roving, but might leak more than our yarns. If the color seems especially bright or strong when you set your handspun yarn, please try the above trick with the hot hot water + vinegar.

Knots: sometimes there are a couple! We do try to do a good quality control job, but the occasional knot can get through, especially since we're never sure what *we* get from our suppliers. If we notice more than a knot or so, or the occasional wonkily spun area in yarns, we try to note it on the label or in the description and discount the yarn. If you happen to buy a yarn that has tons of knots and isn't labelled as such, we'd be happy to work with you to get you something you'd prefer. Check your yarn before you start knitting, please!

We do knit a LOT of hats and mitts and mittens and scarves. We don't post them all up here, as it is hard to describe sizing on hats (this is a personal choice, really - what I find way too small for an average head might be snapped up by a tight-hat wearer!).... if you want a hat or something, please email us and we can try to get you something you'll love!

Kate and Paula do live in two separate states, so once in a while will have issues come up like shipping from two different places for one order. We try not to charge extra in exchange for a little patience!

We offer a couple of different shipping options - first class and priority (for within the US). These are $3 and $4.60. If you are in the US and order over $40 of goods, we will ship (at the slower/cheaper rate) for free!

If you are in Canada and want first class shipping, please pay the $4.60 rate or let us invoice your shipping before you send it. If you'd prefer a faster method of shipping, priority mail is $9 to Canada or $11 to the rest of the world. We cannot send your package quickly if you don't figure the proper shipping! Please email if there are any questions or website glitches!
