Bazaar Bizarre!

Seven days until Bazaar Bizarre! I have already shipped two boxes, and have a third ready to go, along with a large and a small suitcase. Too much? Too little? I have loads more I could bring, but I had to draw the line somewhere...
For shoppers,
here's a coupon to save on some yarn!! (and maybe get a free gift!)
some of my favorite things that I'll be selling there:
wristwarmers and cowls!

kitty toy kits!

and yarrrrrn! this is actually the debut of a half dozen new yarns! We've got new superwash merino, superwash merino nylon, superwash merino seacell, superwash merino silk, and superwas merino cashmere nylon (my fave!!) That's all in addition to the louet gems and handspun which we still love!

So do stop by if you're in Boston!
more mitts + a cowl
This isn't even all the mitts and stuff I've done since the last time I documented stuff... crazy. when the heck did I make these? I am not sure!
Some merino/silk handspun mitts and cowl. This yarn was ridiculously underspun, and has been sitting around waiting patiently for me to use it. There's another example of it unfortunately knit into an oddly shaped hat, which I really oughta rip. But then I'd have more of the yarn, and that would perpetuate the feeling I get that it will. never. end. It's lovely, just... so much!

the next two are also handspun - my own made from some merino/rayon blend that was great. then some merino that was kool-aid dyed and spun that I bought at SAFF. kool aid was fine, the spinning, not! sad knitting for this yarn. Ah well.

Next some deliciousness. Merino angora, from
Jamie Harmon. Can't go wrong here!

Finally some yarn from the
Catskill Merino Sheep Farm, bought at the Greenmarket in NYC. I really want to love this yarn, but the dye and grease tends to color my hands more than I'd like. The finished items are lovely, though. It's nice to knit with, aside from needing to wash my hands a lot.

Sadly, there are so many more things to photograph! I only wish I could focus my mitt-knitting mojo onto something more useful for me... say, sweaters! Ah well.
cowls and mitts and cowls and mitts
less than two weeks until
Bazaar Bizarre! I am hoping they continue with the blog updating, so I know what to look for when I shop!
I've been busy with knitting stuff for craft fairs, as always. cowls and mitts! These are knit with my new favorite yarn --
woolarina lux sock yarn! It's a sport weight superwash merino/cashmere/nylon blend, and I just cannot stop making mitts with it! I am on my fourth pair!

My other faves are twin mitts knit from
folktale fibers that I traded for at crafty bastards. I have two sets of mitts that match each other - one to keep, one to sell? Anyhow, I love love love her yarn and colors!

and cowls - there are more to photograph, but here's a fave... knit from Scharfer Yarn Elaine bought at
Lovelyarns in Baltimore.

Still have to finish writing up a few patterns, weave in a million ends, and send some boxes to
kate! And get together a bunch of kits (kitty toys and soaps!)... and and and! Aiaiai! Long weekend ahead will be busy! :)
a pink sort of day!
I am outgrowing my condo with all this darn yarn! Am pondering how to deal with the future - wondering if my parents wouldn't like some yarn to store for me? hehe. At least, this week I got rid of some yarn! 43 skeins of pink yarn! Gah! Actually, it is for something fun - a
sock club for
yarn4socks! It's holiday-themed, even. The designer is
pink lemon twist. Super fun. Here's the shade, mangled a little with my old camera:

Actually, it sort of matches what my garden is producing in abundance lately... I am almost wishing I had planted more (almost!) as they are actually pretty tasty, and put off buying from the supermarket just a little longer.

Lovely radishes! I've been making a radish salad that is super tasty. Some olive oil, vinegar, honey, spices. It's not as spicy as raw radishes. Yum! I also still have nearly a dozen red and yellow peppers to get through - I will so miss these when they are gone! I can't get enough pepper!! Next year I hope to plant more! :)
And yarn! From SAFF. That one I won (woot!) It's from
Blonde Chicken Boutique, who was awesome and brought prizes for the ravelry meetup. Super nice! It was great to meet her! Her shop is majorly eco-friendly, and reminds me that I need to try harder to seek out more friendly sources for my yarns! The yarn is lovely - organic merino. So darn soft!

superwash merino / silk:

superwash merino / cashmere / nylon:

superwash merino / seacell:

It's amazing how much one can get done on a day off in the middle of a week! Up next - winding up 43 skeins of pink yarn! Eek! Going out for a fun project super soon!
finally updating
Being out of town and doing all these fairs and festivals threw the website into ruin! Yarns that were up were missing, yarns that weren't up were missing. Aiaiai. But now it's November, and I can focus once again. And dye! I have so many amazing new yarns -- I am switching to a new manufacturer altogether, and they have some swank stuff! Merino-cashmere, merino-silk, merino-bamboo, etc. I'll have those up by the end of today!
For now, some of my favorites in superwash falklands - a sport weight yarn coming in just over 300 yards a skein (plenty for a pair of socks!):

delinquent
wow, it's been over a month! I've been out of town for much of the past month - germany for vacation, then off to North Carolina for SAFF, then Boulder, CO for work. Now I am home, for a while, I hope!
Germany was excellent - lots of great beer, sausage, chocolate, etc. We even hopped over to Salzburg - a quick jaunt from Munich when you're driving 180 km an hour (in pouring rain, holy crap!). Went to Oktoberfest and drank big beers, went to the hometown of my husband's dad. Then Berlin and Frankfurt! Lots and lots of walking, even more eating, and loads of visiting. Perfect!
SAFF with
Gryphon was an adventure. The drive to Asheville goes on and on forever. 300 miles on one road! And then some more. We hit up 5 states in all, somehow. MD, VA, TN, NC, SC. The views were great - much like the beautiful colors you see at Rhinebeck!

So there was a lot of yarning, obviously. The festival was held in a pretty dusty dark building, but had a nice vibe. Not as packed as MDSW, but friendly and manageable! There was a slight amount of dressing up:

and a lot of wine and craziness in the evening with the new friends we stayed with.

It was great fun and I had a blast! Haha, hopefully Gryphon will invite me again, though I totally messed up her system multiple times... I think we solved my problems, but man, sorry about all that!
After that, Gryphon dropped me off in Charlotte, where I had a hotel and a flight in the morning... my back was a little ouchy in the evening, so I mostly collapsed in to bed. And did *not* sleep well. :( I woke up with a totally wrecked lower back. Owowow. I would have liked to lay on the cool tile floor of the bathroom, but not with my 7:30 flight. Argh. so not a fun day! Two planes to get to Denver, then a drive and sitting in meetings all afternoon - much harder with a bad back! So moral of the story? I need to work out more! Or at least bring a strong man to carry our stuff?
